I DON’T GIVE OUT MY AGE. I was born in Fort Gaines, Georgia, right outside of Albany. [Clarke was likely born in or around 1936.] Most of my relatives came from Macon.

My mama could really sing. She was so good she sang in more than one choir in the church here [in Miami], and a little while ago the church asked me to produce an album, to raise money for them. I’ll give you one, if you want.
